About Me and These Works
I started taking pictures with my first camera, a Kodak Brownie, when I was 17. In my minds eye I can still see the first 3x3 photo of a beautiful sunset I took while hanging as far out of my bedroom window as possible. The only time I ever skipped school I took a bus downtown and spent most of my time photographing the trees in the Park Blocks adjacent to Portland State Univserity.
Since that time, almost every sight I see becomes framed in a camera lens, if only in my thoughts.
I have driven all of my family members and friends nuts with "Oh, Stop! There's a great picture!" All but one....my
best friend, Lynne, who has risen with me before dawn, in the freezing cold, just so we could get pictures of sunrise on the tips
of the Tetons.
I am on my sixth camera. One I dropped and broke in Yellowstone...how did I survive? Lynne had 2 cameras that trip (my angel), so all was not lost.
One I lost on a wearying wait at the Phoenix airport, or was it in the plane? I will never know..but Crushing!!!
My weakness, and what I am attracted to most, are trees. There is something so fine in them that at times almost brings me to my knees with the joy
of looking.
Many images that catch my attention have now been transferred to the watercolor medium. Very soul satisfying; immersing oneself in
the manipulation of water and paint onto paper, for hours at a time, with background music or movie dialogue. Sigh...
I hope you enjoy the images I have to share as I continue to explore the Road Less Traveled.
